LEE VAUSE

Holding qualifications in nursing, quality and business management and after many years working as a Health Administrator Lee has retired from full time work to transition and focus her endeavors’ into the creative world of fabric art.

Lee had a clear goal of establishing a small business that was creative, characteristic and of a contemporary nature. As such Threads and Tangles was formed in November 2011.

Threads and Tangles is underpinned by Lee’s teaching activities and more recently Lee introduced a long arm quilting service and in collaboration with Lizzy Allen launched their automated and digitized machine embroidery and quilting designs.

On the 1st December 2012 Lee and Lizzy collaborated and took over a patchwork and quilting shop in Heathcote Victoria.  The main focus being on rebuilding the business by providing a full range of classes to include masterclasses, retreats and clubs, pattern and fabric sales, an award winning longarm quilting service along with the sale of gifts and babywear.   

Areas Lee loves to teach includes zentangleâ in its paper form and in thread along with machine embroidery and free motion quilting.

Lee is a Certified Zentangle Teacher, a Jenny Haskins Accredited Tutor and a Victorian Quilters Accredited Teacher.

In summarising Lee embraces a contemporary art design focus and mixes thread painting, fabric painting with inks, crayons and pencils along with free motion quilting to create innovative art quilts under the banner of Threards and Tangles.

 

LIZZY ALLEN

Lizzy loves machine embroidery and digitizing and this love is supported by her many years of experience as a highly regarded quilter operating under the title of Thimble and Thread.

Lizzy holds qualifications in dressmaking and her career commenced in the world of bridal gown construction. She then moved into patchwork and quilting as her two children were growing. Throughout this time Lizzy became well known to many given her numerous magazine articles and pattern publications.

Over the years Lizzy has worked with some of the best particularly that associated with machine embroidery, namely well known Australian Jenny Haskins. Lizzy also has an extraordinary wealth of knowledge in the use of stabilizes having worked in this field for a number of years.

Throughout this period Lizzy had several trips to America working the show circuit while also becoming a well known presenter for numerous dealers in a number of US States.

In more recent times Lizzy’s real passion has evolved to filling the blank canvas that is digitizing for not only the quilting process but for creating a varied range of machine embroideries. Given this Lizzy is now working collaboratively with Lee Vause of Threads and Tangles resulting in a new range of quilting and machine embroidery designs and the opening of a retail patchwork and quilting shop in Lizzy’s home town where the shop focus is to rebuild the business by providing a full range of classes to include masterclasses, retreats and clubs, pattern and fabric sales, an award winning longarm quilting service along with the sale of gifts and babywear.
